marshalls $100 fall challenge

Ever since I discovered what shopping was (as a young 5 year old), I became a bargain hunter, and spent many of my shopping days between the racks at my neighborhood Marshalls. Not much has changed -- 18 years later I still stop in that same store for the latest looks, and have become somewhat of a self-proclaimed Marshalls expert.

I was so excited to participate in creating a great fall outfit for $100 or less. I definitely struck gold (obsessed over these shoes + this top was an awesome clearance score!) and found some great pieces that will keep me looking stylish all season long -- from print on print snakeskin to oxblood fingertips, lady-like heels and edgy touches. Marshalls always has a way of surprising me with the great pieces I find.

The hardest part? Figuring out which outfit to buy! Here's what I got:

TOP: Olive & Oak $5........(compare at $34)
SCARF: Accessory St $20........(compare at $60)
PANTS: Rich & Skinny $39........(compare at $172)
SHOES: B. Makowsky $29........(compare at $129)
NAILS: Jessica $5 for a set........(compare at $17)

TOTAL: $98........(compare at $412)

nyfw diary + walter baker

A few years ago, walking into Lincoln Center (without sneaking in and being escorted to leave) was a far off dream. And being dressed by the designer and his team to attend a show was crazy talk. But I guess crazier things can happen as I attended my first ever fashion show last week, dressed in the designer's fall collection -- and what a perfect show to start off with. A roomful of stunning prints, gorgeous colors, and intricately beautiful details that I love so much about Walter's designs -- and are so me. I have my eye on a few faves -- that ombre motorcycle jacket is to die for, and the square cutouts are my new favorite things.

Thank you again to the WB team for having me!

1. At Lincoln Center (!!)
2. Hello NYC!
3. Picking out goodies to wear at the Walter showroom
4. Wearing Walter before the show
5. Print mixing heaven in tribal prints
6. Close up lace + neon pink
7. Loved this bright fuchsia paired with blue + tie-dye florals
8. GENIUS ombre leather jacket
9. Obsessed with the cool blues/whites/blacks on this side -- the cutout square lace is even more stunning in person. Swoon.
10. Accessory close up
11. Posing again in Walter outside Lincoln Center

go try it on

We've all been there.

It's date night, your girlfriends are nowhere to be seen, and you're left with a closet full of clothes along with that frustrating question: What should I wear

I've teamed up with Go Try It On, a seriously awesome new iPhone app that allows you to trust your friends when you don't trust your gut. Just strike a pose, get instant advice from like-minded fashionistas, find inspiration, and love what you wear when you run out the door. The best part? It's fun, easy to use and it is the place where friends meet over fashion.

Be sure to download it here (it's free!) and follow me (DressAlligators). Let's talk fashion!

red shoes

I finally bought a pair of the perfect cherry red heels just in time for sandal weather to be over -- typical. But their sale price makes it OK. I tend to use red as a neutral, especially with classic blue and white. This week has been nonstop, running between NYC and Boston, I am off to the city again tomorrow for a whirlwind 24 hours. Such a dream come true, but so exhausting! The things us girls do for fashion.

september crochet

I might seem out of place swooning over crochet when fall is fast approaching and September is already here (crazy!), but I can't stop, won't stop. I've been using this dress (last seen here) as a sweater, layering it over those summer pieces I refuse to let go of just yet -- dresses, shorts, slips. It gives the right amount of warmth, breeziness and cool-factor for these chillier nights.

{Zara dress (old -- have seen similar looks on EBay/TJMaxx); F21 dress (similar); Madewell flats; Longchamp tote}
