One of my favorite parts of Valentine's Day is the pinks, reds, and heart-shaped accessories that fill every shelf of my favorite stores. Here's yet another awesome animal print to add to the collection (in my new favorite color of the moment: nude). One day I'll have to take stock of all the animals hiding in my closet. But for now, I love how this feathered friend is playfully punctuated with neon green. And you know I love my neon colors just as much as much as my zoo prints.

This top is actually from a PJ set, but I couldn't help myself from dressing it up for those daytime hours. Obviously I love the check on check look (with a little stripe thrown in) -- it has a cool lumberjack twist to it. And the more neutral pallet is kind of a refreshing break from all the neon I've been sporting.

With the promise of pastels for spring, light on light colors are front and center, especially with those small pops of color like fuchsia, yellow and sea-foam. It is such an effortless look with different textures and shades of white that work seamlessly. Sadly you can't tell but I am wearing the brightest pink lip-color that I love -- I definitely need to work on perfecting my beauty photography.

the sweater dress

Theoretically, this "sweater dress" is a lot too short to be considered a real dress, but I liked the leggy vibe it gives. And I loved the fact that I scored it half off during one of Anthro's freak sweater sales before Christmas. It's nice to have an easy, cozy uniform going into January, and ten brownie points for its perfect shade of mustard yellow.

With Christmas just one week away, the holiday cheer is seriously settling in. We finally got the perfect tree yesterday, which remains a tradition I will never tire of. It is one that has been exactly the same every year -- truly setting the mood for the impending Christmas festivities I've been looking forward to since September. Plus, I can't wait to put on some festive tunes and trim the tree!

I've kept myself extremely busy these past few days. But between endless study guides, last minute assignments and an almost 12-hour Christmas shopping marathon (never again) I still feel myself needing to catch up on things. Its this time of year that I warmly welcome pajama-like pants, loafers, and tops that still look lady-like and pulled together. Now if only next week would be over with, I could really begin to embrace the holiday spirit.
