the third piece | two ways

Great shoes? Check. Great bag? Check. Great scarf?
Totally check.
A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of meeting the founders of the coolest knit company in Boston: The Third Piece. These gals know their stuff - they make their own wool in beautiful earth tones, hand-knit all of their products with the help of a small team of knitting experts, and have caught the eye of some big name people (like Bergdorf Goodman), all while staying true to their longtime friendship.
I was excited to have the opportunity to style one of their beautiful handmade pieces - starting with the 'Beacon Scarf' (more styles to come..!). I love the versatility of this piece, and I'd be lying if I didn't love how warm it is. I've already worn this scarf both ways, a million times, and don't see a chance of stopping.

olive morning

I am in no way a morning person -- actually quite the opposite. I snooze 'till the last possible minute, get myself ready in 5.3 minutes and run out the door to catch a train into Boston. I've been working on loving mornings, but pretty sure it will forever be love-hate.

 This indian summer week is just what I needed before waving goodbye to all things summer. So one last outfit in shorts and sandals until my favorite boots and sweaters come out to play.

the coziest sweater

Well hello! That was quite an absence! I've been running around for the past two weeks working on projects outside of the blog-world -- half of which I was without my trusty laptop (such a mistake, blogging from an iPad is kind of the hardest thing. Ever). But it feels so good to be home, and back at it. 

Since we've last talked, I've been wearing a lot of white, waves in my hair, and this cozy blanket sweater. Easy looks, for on the go. I snagged this sweater on sale at Anthro (similar style here) it has kept me cozy and warm during this last stretch of chilly February.

I've been on a huge lipstick kick lately, and finally scouted out the perfect bright pink color to break up all these dark clothes I've been drawn to. Matching it to an equally loud pink bag just makes me happy.

3 easy halloween costumes you already have in your closet

When it comes to Halloween, I procrastinate till the very last minute. Every. Single. Year. I'm that girl who runs out to the store (after everything has been picked through) an hour before a party, frantically searching for something (anything) to throw together. This year I was excited to find that putting together three different costumes with clothes I already owned was a cinch. Here's how I did it:

1.

What you have: 

Anything polka dot -- dress/skirt/even pants (tip: layer different sizes to achieve a cartoony look)

+ a collared shirt 

+ shiny shoes/polka dot shoes/red shoes/gold shoes

What you need:

Mouse ears (mine are from the Disney store)

Cartoon eyelashes (F21 has a set of 3 for $4.80)

= Minnie Mouse

2.

What you have:

White button down

+ white pants

+ black boots

What you need:

A black hat (unless you already own one)

+ eyelashes (put one set over one eye -- top and bottom lash)

= A Clockwork Orange

3.

What you have:

Motorcycle jacket

+ any tee with skulls/american flags/eagles

+ leather pants

+ aviators

What you need:

A helmet (optional, not pictured)

+ temporary tattoos (or real -- optional, not pictured)

= Biker Chick (think Sons of Anarchy, but more girly)

flannel and leather + giveaway winner

This outfit screams fall to me, and I like it. Flannels are one of my favorite things to wear when the temperature drops -- there's something so cozy about that checkered pattern that makes you want to grab a cup of tea and watch the leaves fall. But I was never a fan of women's flannels, they're always too short and too fitted. My favorite tops always, always come from the guy's section, or borrowed from the brother or the BF.
