autumn summer

What a delight that summertime weather has made a quick reappearance this week. I could not believe I could open my almost cobweb covered  shorts drawer without consulting my tights, socks or boot selection after. However, keeping in mind that we are actually in October, I suppressed any urge to change into a different summer dress every five minutes, and opted to pair some luxe velvet shorts with a simple white top. Of course I brought a warm sweater along (mostly because I was in disbelief) yet I barely needed it.

These ladies know how to do laundry right, fully clad in piles of lace, lady-like shoes and champagne hues. A vintage Vogue editorial completely transforms a lengthy chore sending me running towards the nearest Laundromat. Who ever thought wash and dry could be so glamorous?

block

With Halloween just around the corner, I have become more and more infatuated with watching scary movies and all things that go bump in the night. This eerie house was so fun to walk though (especially since it has the potential to serve as a horror movie setting), although I left a little creeped out. The colors in this outfit seem to blend seamlessly with the cobwebbed, dusty interiors and the simple layers of fabric create an interesting color blocking look with a splash of pattern.

something overlooked

Meet my newest closet darling: the band-aid skirt. In the past, I have disregarded trying out this skintight bottom time and time again. The thought of wearing something that left little to the imagination just isn’t my thing so naturally I strayed far, far away. I can’t tell you what possessed me to try it out last week, but my mind has done a 180 and these skirts are all I want to wear. It is the ideal compliment (and contrast) to my signature-oversized tops, not to mention a savior on the windy streets of the city.

applied inspiration

I felt quite inspired after seeing Topshop’s winter story (seen here), so much so that I instinctively reached into my closet for sparkly fabrics, saturated colors and chunky knits – honestly! One of the major players in this look is clearly this gorgeous long skirt, which is also my newest purchase. After weeks of searching and much disappointment, I stumbled upon this one – a $20 wonder from the racks of Forever 21. I especially love the luxurious color and sheen fabric not to mention the flowy length. They have a wide selection of different styles and colors and I am about to turn around and try on more and more. I am quite enamored by the grunge chic look of right now, and these white keds are the perfect contrast to the dressy layers.
