see hear speak

I've been wearing this top all summer with cutoffs and layered over dresses, but decided to make it more sophisticated today. It's surprising how many compliments I get whenever I have it on -- I love a quirky basic and can't wait to try it out with textured pants, jackets and cozy knits.

doll-matian

Still obsessed with wearing one pattern head to toe. Dressing up a simple shift dress with fun jewelry from this post not only makes this more special, it is so effortless. I almost threw on my favorite Dalmatian heels (last seen here) but it was a flats kind of day -- happy weekend!

how to: reinvent the chain link necklace

I like to think of and use jewelry as clothing -- you need those essential jewelry pieces to act like neutrals in a look. The chain link necklace is the perfect starting point to layer on texture, color and dimension to any simple outfit (think jeans + tee, LBD).

The best part? You may find that you have many of these combinations hiding somewhere in the depths of your accessory drawers -- score!!

casual sunday

When I was a kid, I would probably wear this whole outfit -- but with some sweet Adidas sneaks, a ponytail, and some kind of bad eyeliner -- which was why I was so excited to spot this classic Gap sweatshirt last week. But because I look terrible in sneakers, I opted to stay away from my childhood style, and throw in some ladylike elements: oversized sunnies, leopard wedges, and the perfect chain link bracelet from Jeweliq (for only $20!).

head to toe

This skirt is such a statement piece that I wear it too much -- it seems to make EVERYTHING instantly  playful and ladylike. Mixing it with more polka dots seemed like the natural thing to do, and I am digging the contrast of the abstract, splatter dots with the graphic ones.

pink suit

A lighter shade of pink in a deconstructed cotton candy ensamble.
It's lady-like but still quirky enough -- now that's my kind of summer suiting.
