we dream in frills

I must confess I have a slight obsession and I am no afraid to admit it – plus I know that I am not alone. For a few years now (about 4 actually) I have openly gawked, drooled and scoured the Internet, boutiques and stores for anything Marie Antoinette inspired; a slight problem I can’t find myself able to extinguish. I would fall asleep with my head bursting with opulence and gorgeous fabrics and shoes (!) straight from the movie itself. Although the majority of that flick was rather snooze-worthy, I can’t help but be unremorsefully jealous of every costume change and ridiculous hairpiece worn.

Now, these shoes pictured here are a product of the above fascination and they remain my little slice of Versailles. Although wildly uncomfortable if worn too long, I will happily parade anywhere in these beauties provided that a great deal of seating will be available. But besides that, they compliment this adorable frilly dress perfectly and provide a more modern (and tame) perspective on the stunning fashions that created a fashion storm in the 1700s and then again in 2006. I am still on the hunt though! :}
