some assembly required

Who doesn’t love exploring the preassembled world of IKEA? I paid my neighborhood store a visit today in search of a bookshelf for my new apartment. I found a million and one different chairs, tables, desks and accessories that I wanted to pile onto my cart, but no bookcase. Although I didn’t find what I was looking for, I will never pass up an opportunity to make myself at home amongst the delightfully decorated mini rooms that reside there. I swear that inspiration hides around every corner, and their cheeky fabrics encourage me to break out the sewing machine and actually learn how to use it. I wore my glittery American Apparel shorts as well as that H&M top I had previously raved about here. Some appropriately Swedish braids helped finish off the look and I came out of there with nothing but one of their fat $1 cinnamon buns (yum!), but the trip was definitely worth it!

{H&M top; American Apparel shorts; Target belt; American Eagle belt; Forever 21 earrings; UO double ring}

  8. Love the shimmery top (so beautiful...H&M has the best finds!) with the glittery shorts...great way to pull off lots of sparkle without looking like a disco ball. Very chic and loving the hair as well - I have a slight obsession with braids but I can never seem to figure out how to do them...perhaps a how-to post is in order?

  19. UGgg super cute shorts, I absolutey adore American Apparel and everything in it! I always end up spending an obscene amount of money when I go to IKEA so I keep my shopping trips there to a minimum! Good luck on your trek to find a bookcase!

  22. I know what you mean, a shopping trip at IKEA is always something look forward to - whether it's the cafe's meatballs, the prepacked furniture or the showroom that my sis and I love to check out for interior inspiration it is without a doubt a fun trip out.

    As for the outfit, you are definitely perfecting the metallic trend and I agree with Hallie from Prada for Breakfast that you should do a braid tutorial.

    Your blog keeps getting better, congrats!
    One last note: can I borrow your legs?!
