Creating an outfit full of elements that don’t appear to go together is fun – plus it feels rather satisfying when everything comes together right. Playing around with different combinations is half the fun in getting dressed for the day. Take a classic high-waist skirt + a casual denim button down + some scandalous over-the-knee boots and a unique look is born. I cannot rave enough about each of these pieces and all three can morph into different combinations effortlessly. Just pop on a Popsicle stained lip and this outfit is ready for everyday activities.

small bag long skirt

I am really into the long skirt of the season. Its grungy look is the perfect new silhouette I’ve been dreaming of and holds endless layering potential – definitely a nice escape from my usual penchant for tucked in styles. I have yet to find the perfect maxi skirt but I love how the pairing of my favorite gray top with this black dress turned out.

god must have spent a little more time...on you

I love weddings, and needless to say the one I went to this weekend was perfection in every way possible: the bride was glowing, the groom smitten, and lots of newlywed love filled the air. Everything looked so exquisite from the color pallet to the carrot cake dessert and the N*Sync throwback playlist. I ended up going with the Phillip Lim number but was undecided up until the final hour – believe me if I could have worn both and still looked like a normal person, I totally would have. This was my fourth wedding in four years and I am already itching to attend another one! I wonder who will be next… ;)

Tomorrow I am attending a friend's wedding, and I am still unsure which dress I will be wearing (and with which shoes). On the eve of their big day I have narrowed it down to two dresses: a bohemian purple number with a splattered print or a lipstick red stunner, covered with the appropriate symbol for love - hearts. Decisions, decisions...

The above photos are a product of today’s procrastination at the library. 

I could think of a-million-and-five things I would rather do right now than contemplate the theories of Freud for this paper, and this is one example. I have admired chain body jewelry present on various blogs for a while, and always kind of wanted my own. I suppose this was just the perfect opportunity to go hunting through the Internet for some possibilities. I stumbled upon jewelry designer Bliss Lau and her incredible range of chain vests, dresses and more! The layering possibilities are almost mind-boggling and could be worn for everyday or posh events. My brain is already spinning with outfits I could put these over (or under ahhh!!). I think I am in love with how these pieces are more like articles of clothing rather than just an accessory. Luckily, there are affordable alternatives (Lau’s beauties can cost a girl $200 +) and I am currently debating whether or not I should add the ASOS shoulder chain to my shopping cart. Perhaps I should create a list of tops it would go with…once I veer off track its so hard to start again. Plus this is just way more fun ;)

I will never stop feeling charmed by Boston’s North End. It is just so adorable – like being transported back to a quaint European world. Today while catching up on some sibling time with my brother, we stumbled upon this hidden courtyard of brick and wiry plants. A place so sweet all I needed was a cannoli and some twinkling lights.

I dug this dress out of my closet today, which sadly has not seen the light of day too often. I remember spotting it years ago at an expensive store, putting it down after I saw the price tag, and then finding it almost a year later at the Saks outlet. Yes this is a true story indeed (and for much, much less mind you). It was a touch too big for me at the time (nothing a tailor can’t fix), but its graphic flowers, and brick reds, golden browns and deep navy made it too hard to put down. Long story short, I need to wear this more often, and fall just might be the perfect time to finally start showing it off!
