I've been feeling the black and white lately.

When I had blonde hair I tried to stay far, far away from anything white (well, maybe not too far: evidence here + here). Even though I love the look, I felt that it just washed me out -- I have zero California blood in me that could help me not look painfully pale in white -- holla New England life.

But, ever since going brunette, I've become a magnet to all things white. Funny how hair can re-inspire your entire outlook on how you dress.

orange crush: two ways

A bright orange jacket can seem intimidating -- something that most would pair with similar browns or creams, (myself included). This time though, I wanted to show how versatile this color can be with some color and pattern. I love how the intensity of the orange chills out with touches of lavender, corals and blues, making it a new staple for spring. Plus it's sweatshirt comfy.

Today is the last day to vote for me in the Wallis Contest (I talked about here), and it has definitely been a fun ride. Not only have I stepped beyond my comfort zone, but I've fallen in love with a new brand -- their mission, affordable price range and of course their beautiful pieces, are just so me. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me, and thank you to Wallis for this crazy opportunity! The chance to represent such a great brand has been a dream come true.

>>But be sure to send one more vote my way! Contest ends tonight at 12PM<<

spring find

Two beautiful weekends in a row meant a lot of time outside biking and hiking. And no I didn't wear this outfit for either activity, but I have been wearing it for everything in between. I scored the ultimate designer find at TJ's a few weeks back when I found this Equipment top hanging in clearance for $39. THIRTY NINE.

You can only imagine how quick this purchase was.

layers in lace

A basic chambray dress is such a wardrobe staple for me -- I consider it just as essential as the LBD. It's an instant outfit no-brainer that can be layered with different patterns and textures, or worn alone just as easily. But chambray in neon pink is even more fun, especially when paired with my favorite, no-fuss (lace) LBD.

{ASOS leather jacket (old, love this one); Juicy Couture lace LBD (old but similar); JCrew dress (old, but in denim, similar for a great price); Plenty by Tracy Reese pumps; vintage Coach Willis bag; Ray Bans; Jeweliq necklace (similar); bracelets -- JCrew, Catbird}

improvised kaftan

I have always had a major crush on kaftans -- especially these -- but haven't had much luck scouting one for my own. So I decided to improvise.

This J.Crew dress caught my eye back in January. Tried one in my size and it was ok, nothing too special for the price. Fast forward a couple months, and I tried it again -- but two sizes larger -- and kind of loved it. This boho print just makes this extra-slouchy shape look less frumpy, and more of what I've been hunting for: an idea kaftan/dress hybrid ready for bare legs and sunset beach strolls.
